The definition of the classroom is changing. There are many different formats beyond rows of desks including learning pods, small group work settings, lounge seating and the opening up of the classroom to integrate with outdoors. The use of outdoors for class time extends the size of the classroom space and allows for separate, quiet learning and discussion.
The campus grounds within the school are a blank canvass for designing a landscape of outdoor classrooms and playgrounds. The classroom configuration can be multipurpose, used for shade and seating at break time and scheduled in to the school timetable for class time. The adjacent playgrounds create the opportunity for physical exertion, driven by imagination and stimulating creativity.
